A decoded value answers one question: nominal capacitance under the documented notation. Real capacitor documentation uses other fields for tolerance, rated voltage, dielectric or temperature characteristic, case and termination, and sometimes polarity. Three digits cannot safely reconstruct those fields.
Manufacturers encode properties separately
A part number or body marking may place a tolerance letter, voltage code, dielectric code, package, series, and date beside the capacitance digits. Their position and meaning depend on the documented family. CapCode does not consume adjacent letters or claim a universal part-number grammar.
Nominal value is not operating behaviour
Actual capacitance can depend on tolerance, temperature, applied voltage, frequency, aging, and construction. ESR, ESL, leakage, ripple, polarity, and derating are separate concerns. A correct decode cannot establish that a capacitor is interchangeable or suitable for a circuit.
Use the datasheet as the decision source
Use CapCode to transcribe nominal capacitance, then identify the complete manufacturer part and current datasheet before replacement, design, or mains-connected work. A photograph, visual similarity, or matching capacitance value alone is not evidence of safe compatibility.
